No Frills 2016
Tuesday, September 13, 2016

It is the start of a new year at Discovery Elementary, and the PTA has many exciting programs and activities planned for the 2016-2017 school year.

Last year, thanks to your generosity, over 70% of all Discovery families contributed to the No Frills Fundraiser, raising over $35,000. This amount greatly supplemented the $8,000 we started off with in September 2015.

It was because of these donations that we were able to provide extra support and many diverse educational opportunities for the Discovery staff and students. These included:

  • $9,000 in grants to teachers for educational tools in their classrooms
  • An author visit by Jarrett Krosocka
  • The popular Poetry Slam by Reggie Cabico
  • Funds to the Reflections Art Program, Odyssey of the Mind, Math Dice, the Continental Math League and other student competitions
  • EcoAction Committee, including funds for the Discovery Garden, the Food Bus Program and the CSA
  • Field Trips (hoping for more this year)
  • And FREE ADMISSION to community building events such as the DJ Dance Party and Movie Night

The true beauty of this fundraiser is that 100% of all No Frills contributions will go directly towards the Explorers and their programs. It is as simple as that. We don’t need you to bake anything or sell anything, just simply donate. The average family donation was $125 last year, but we would greatly appreciate a donation in any amount. Our main goal this year is for 100% family participation, hopefully raising a total of $20,000.

Last year, we received some questions about PTA fund raising events.  Therefore we created a No Frills FAQ page hoping to answer any and all of your questions.
